As with most beginners in this art form, I started off making panels and lamps from
purchased patterns and books. I soon tired of seeing the same designs
made by other students, and decided to try making something a little more unique.

What to do though, if you're not very good at drawing, like me?
I have used existing art work or photographs and some of my own photographs
and interpreted them in stained glass.

This small panel is from a photo of the Sultan Ahmet I Mosque (also called the Blue Mosque) in Istanbul, Turkey and was made for my sister - who wanted "something Turkish" to fill a frame she bought in Turkey. (The real mosque is blue on the inside, not outside like mine!) The panel is approx. 13" x 7".

(This panel is not for sale)

This panel is from the painting "The Flower Seller" by Diego Rivera (see original here) and measures approx. 30" x 30". It's extremely detailed. I changed the colors of the seller's clothing because I'd purchased some beautiful pieces of glass from the Youghiogheny glass factory and I wanted to incorporate them.

Price: $ 940

This panel has been sold.

This panel is from an illustration in the Washington Post Magazine and was from an article about drug dealers in South America. I wish I knew who the original artist was, as I'd like to contact them. The size is approx. 15" x 11 1/2".

Price: $ 120

This panel was designed by a Japanese artist. The original had an image of Fujiyama in the background, which made it very Japanese-looking. I made this version to be more generic. It's approx. 35" x 22". (The squares are shadows from the window frame behind it, and are not part of the panel.)

Price : $ 740

On a trip to the Youghiogheny glass factory, which is near the Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania, I took a lot of photos. One of these photos forms the basis for this panel, which incorporates a lot of the glass that was bought on the trip. It is approx. 36" x 26" and looks much better in real life than this photo can show. It took me over two years to complete as I moved house half way through.

Price: $ 1,500

This panel is based on an image of a Persian rug or tapestry that I saw (see image above).
It's approx. 36 3/4" x 21 3/4". Many different types of glass have been used in the panel. The face and fingers of the left hand were painted on, using acrylic outdoor paints, after etching the surface to help the paint adhere better.

Price: $ 1,500
